2020 Nissan Altima vs. 2019 Hyundai Sonata

Nissan Altima HoustonHouston Hyundai Sonata

KEY ALTIMA ADVANTAGES

  • Available Variable Compression Turbo (VC-Turbo) engine – Altima’s available 2.0-liter 4-cylinder VC-Turbo engine reacts to driver input and seamlessly changes its compression ratio to deliver near V6-level performance and torque or the fuel efficiency of a 4-cylinder. Sonata offers a 4-cylinder and a non-variable compression turbocharged 4-cylinder engine.
  • Available all-wheel drive1 – Altima’s available Intelligent All-Wheel Drive can automatically direct up to 50% of the power to the rear wheels for improved traction under various road conditions. When all-wheel drive is not needed, Altima operates in 100% front-wheel drive for maximum fuel efficiency. Sonata is available in front-wheel drive only.
  • Available advanced drive assist system (ProPILOT Assist2) (vs. no Steering Assist) – ProPILOT Assist eases the driver’s workload by automatically adjusting the vehicle’s set speed and following distance to other cars according to the flow of traffic. It can also help keep the vehicle centered in its lane when lane markings are visible. Sonata offers Smart Cruise Control to help the vehicle maintain distance from other cars, but its Lane Keeping Assist system only corrects the vehicle when it drifts toward the edge of its marked lane, unlike Altima’s lane centering system.
  • Standard Intelligent Forward Collision Warning3 (I-FCW) (vs. available and not intelligent) – Altima’s standard Intelligent Forward Collision Warning system helps alert the driver to a potential frontal collision by monitoring the vehicle in front of the vehicle immediately ahead. If the system detects a potential collision, it alerts the driver with visual and audible warnings. Sonata’s available forward collision warning system monitors only the vehicle directly ahead.
  • Available Rear Automatic Braking4 (RAB) – Altima’s available Rear Automatic Braking helps detect large stationary objects when backing up, and if necessary, may apply the brakes to help avoid a collision. Sonata does not offer this safety feature.
